On this day 21 years ago, Jay-Z released “Vol. 3... Life & Times of S. Carter”, his 4th studio album. The last of the trilogy, Vol. 3 sold 462,000 units first week, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 & 3x certified platinum by February 2001. Vol. 3 would be the Album that would make Hov a true force to be reckoned with in the rap game, you could tell Jay-Z had finally found himself as an artist. With singles like “Big Pimpin’” ft. UGK, “Do It Again (Put Ya Hands Up), “Things That You Do” & “Anything”, the album had the perfect balance of records the streets & the high-end club scene could rock with. Although Vol. 3 sold 30% more first week than the former Vol. 2, Vol. 3 doesn’t hold a candle to the impact Vol. 2 had in the culture as a whole.
