On this day 19 years ago, Jay-Z released “Supa Ugly”, the last diss song aimed at Nas’ after the release of “Ether”. A freestyle that premiered on Hot 97, Supa Ugly would be the last shot fired in the war between Nas’ & Jay-Z after the release of Nas’ memorable diss track “Ether”. In the Freestyle Hov reveals alleged affairs he & Allen Iverson had with the mother of Nas’ daughter, Carmen Bryan.
“Me & the boy A.I. got more in common
Than just ballin’and rhymin’—Get it? ‘More in Carmen’”
After the Freestyle aired, Jay-Z’s mother would call him & tell him to apologize for the harsh bar which he did on Hot 97 a day later:
“I apologize. I felt like I didn’t think about women’s feelings or [Nas' former girlfriend’s] feelings, or even my mom. It was really like, let me meet your level of disrespect with this level of disrespect.”
