On This Day:”My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”

On this day 10 years ago, Kanye West released “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”, his 5th studio album. “MBDTF” sold 496,000 units first week, debuting at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 & eventually became 2x certified platinum. The album featured 4 singles released for free through the “Good Friday” series: “Power”, “Runaway”, “Monster” & “All of the Lights”, all of which became Top 40 Hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2012, The Album won “Best Rap Album at that year’s Grammy awards. An amalgamation of West’s previous albums, “MBDTF” explores Kanye’s struggles with fame, relationships, drug use with sounds that can be found in his previous works, but perfected with this project. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was named the Best Album of the 2010’s & is considered to be Kanye’s best work to date.
