On this day 14 years ago, Jay-Z released “Kingdom Come”, his 9th studio album. Although selling 680,000 first week & winning a Grammy for “Best Rap Album”, “Kingdom Come” is regarded as one of Hov’s lesser albums due to the musical content. The comeback from “retirement after “The Black Album”, “KC” featured 4 singles: “Show Me What You Got”, “Lost One”, “30 Something” & “Hollywood”. Meant to be the “death” of Jay-Z & the rebirth of Shawn Carter as depicted at the end of the “99 Problems” video from the Black Album, Hov also addressed the Roc-a-Fella breakup, his relationship with now-wife Beyoncé & the passing of his nephew on this project.
